On Saturday, September 6th, 2025, I attended a Service Saturday where I helped to set up at the Cass Park site for the AIDS Ride for Life! Our group helped to set up many tables and chairs in the rain, as well as set up the photo booth area under the pavilion by blowing up balloons. We also assembled custom pins for everyone biking on that day, which was really fun (I had never assembled pins before, and the machine was really interesting). In general, we helped to set up the end celebration for all of the finishers and supporters! This event unites the different people from different backgrounds towards a common goal. My key takeaway from this Service Saturday was that meaningful work can take many forms, and I, at times, felt like I wasn't doing enough, but I was assured that being present and helping make people feel seen can be plenty.
